Fix a custom domain that will not verify or stopped working

Fix the records

  1. Click settings, then Domains, and click Check DNS on the domain card.
  2. Compare What we see right now with the records on the card.
  3. At your registrar or DNS provider, fix the A record for @ and the CNAME record for www so they match the card.
  4. If the card asks for a TXT record, add it again and click Check Verification.

Once the records match, the domain reconnects on its own.

What the status labels mean

  • Connected: ownership is confirmed and your records reached your site.
  • Pending Verification: Pixelesq is still waiting for your DNS records or the TXT record.
  • Sync Error: the hosting provider couldn't attach the domain.
  • Could not check: the provider didn't answer. Click Check DNS again later.

Limits

  • If your domain stops pointing to your site, Pixelesq alerts you in the bell after 1 day and again after 7 days. After 30 days it disconnects the domain, and your site goes back to its free Pixelesq address.
  • If verification is lost, the domain disconnects about an hour after Pixelesq notices.
  • DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to reach everyone.

Common questions

Where do I fix it after a domain alert?

Go to settings, then Domains. The alert itself opens your project home.

What does "DNS stopped pointing here" mean on a connected domain?

One of your records changed. The domain stays connected while you fix the records shown on the card.

What does "Domain is taken" mean?

The domain is connected to another Pixelesq project. If you own it, contact support.
