Rename a page or change its URL without breaking links
Change the name or URL
- In the editor, click the settings button at the top left. Page settings opens.
- Edit page name (not visible to users) or page url.
- Click Update. The change is live at once, even on a published page.
Keep old links working
Pixelesq doesn't redirect the old URL for you. Add a redirect from the old URL to the new one, so links and search results still work. See Redirect an old URL to a new page.
When you ask Pixel to change a URL, it offers to add the redirect.
Limits
- URLs start with / and use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens.
- Two pages, entries or redirects can't share a URL.
- Pages made from a collection entry change their URL from the entry.
- URLs can't be changed while you're offline.
Common questions
What does "Slug already exists. Try another slug." mean?
Another page uses that URL. Pick a different one.
What does "A redirect already sends ... elsewhere" mean?
A redirect uses that URL. Remove the redirect, or pick another URL.
Why does it say the URL is reserved?
URLs that end in /page/ and a number are kept for pages of a list, such as /blog/page/2. URLs that start like a collection's, such as /blog, are kept for that collection. Pick another URL.
What does "This page belongs to a collection entry. Change its address from the entry." mean?
The page is made from an entry. Open the entry in its collection and change the URL there.
