Reuse sections on many pages with partials
Create a partial
- In the sidebar, click partials, then create. Name it and click submit.
- Add sections as you would on a page.
- Click publish and confirm.
Turn a section into a partial
- On a page, right-click a section and click convert to partial.
- In Convert to partial, type a name and click submit. Look for "Section converted to partial".
The new partial is published right away and takes the section's place on that page.
Add a partial to a page
- In the page editor, click Add a new section and open the partials tab.
- Click the partial. Only published partials show here.
Edit a partial
Hover it on any page and click Edit Partial, make your changes, then click publish. Every page that uses it updates without being republished. See Edit your header and footer.
Show collection entries in a partial
A partial can hold a list that shows collection entries, such as your latest blog posts, so the same list appears on every page that uses it. Connect the list in the partial editor the same way as on a page. See Show collection entries on a page.
Remove, duplicate or delete a partial
- Remove it from one page: hover it, click Detach and click Delete in "Just making sure". Other pages keep it.
- Duplicate, unpublish or delete it: in partials, right-click it and pick duplicate, unpublish or delete.
- Delete one that pages use: Partial in use lists those pages. Pick Keep as sections to leave an editable copy on each page, or Remove & delete.
Limits
- Launch includes 10 partials, Grow 50 and Scale 100, counting your header and footer.
- The partials tab and list show the 20 partials changed most recently.
- Pages always show a partial's last published version.
- Detach takes the partial off that page without leaving a copy to edit.
- A partial that no page uses is deleted without asking. Unpublishing a partial takes it off every live page.
Common questions
Why does a partial on my page say it has not been published?
The partial is on the page but has never been published. Open it with Edit Partial and click publish.
What does "Partial is empty" mean?
The partial has no sections. Add sections to it and publish it.
Can Pixel make and place partials?
Yes. Ask, for example "Make a newsletter signup partial and add it to the blog page". Publishing the partial needs your approval.
